Alexis Ahumada, BA

Alexis is a second-year EdS student in School Psychology in the Department of Education at Florida International University (FIU). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Trauma Studies. Alexis worked as a paraprofessional for five years with children with various disabilities and developed a strong drive to support them, addressing their diverse needs with evidence-based practices and navigating obstacles with a growth mindset. She is currently working as a research assistant on Project Pathways, exploring how the EF-Stress Loop (i.e., associations among school-based stress, executive function [EF], and stress regulation) and classroom context contribute to behavioral and academic outcomes of middle schoolers diagnosed with or at-risk of being diagnosed with EBD.
